Our responsibility to employees and society
Our internal corporate principles set out how we work with staff and business partners. These principles address how we interact with one another, health and safety at work, working conditions, equal treatment, co-determination and participation, as well as human rights and personal rights. Our company offers a range of working time and location arrangements. At the HEBIE GROUP, we take a holistic view of social and economic considerations. We also participate in selected social projects. You can read more about this under ‘Associations and Partnerships’.
Flexible working arrangements are among the options offered by our company and take account of different work and life situations. In addition, we support selected social projects and address issues of social responsibility. We regard social responsibility and business operations as interlinked issues.

Responsibility for our employees and teams across the supply chain
The HEBIE GROUP has adopted internal policies on collaboration, equal treatment and work organisation. Various working time arrangements are available, depending on role and duties. Business partners and suppliers are subject to the requirements of the Code of Conduct. This sets out guidelines on various compliance issues, including human rights and child labour.
The Bielefeld site was most recently awarded the ‘Excellent Family-Friendly’ status in August 2023 by the City of Bielefeld in collaboration with the Local Alliance for Families (read more here).
Our Code of Conduct*
Our Code of Conduct sets out the HEBIE GROUP’s expectations regarding lawful and responsible conduct. It addresses, amongst other things, human rights, child labour, the prevention of corruption, health and safety at work, and environmental considerations, whilst referring to relevant legal and international frameworks.

Back-to-work support
Our back-to-work programme is an part of our workplace health approach. We maintain regular contact with employees who have been on long-term sick leave and support them as they return to their daily work routine. To this end, we hold discussions with employees and, if they wish, with a trusted representative, to discuss individual circumstances and possible support measures.
proWerk Bethel
We’ve had a close partnership with proWerk since 2017 – a foundation-run initiative of the von Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel that focuses on vocational rehabilitation. Our first proWerk colleagues have been supporting us in metal and plastics processing for over seven years now.
Energy Scouts programme
Our apprentices have the opportunity to take part in the Energie Scouts programme run by the local Chambers of Industry and Commerce over several months. This additional qualification in environmental and climate protection empowers them to identify savings potential within the company, develop innovative ideas, and independently implement and present a project.
MOBILITY ON TWO WHEELS AT THE HEBIE GROUP
We have been promoting cycling culture for many years. Our infrastructure offers the best conditions for this: secure bicycle parking facilities close to the workplace, convenient charging facilities for e-bikes, repair stations, modern shower and changing areas, and personal lockers. Public transport connections and sharing services are also nearby. We have received multiple awards as a bicycle-friendly employer – a claim we would like to further develop. ‘Those of us who work with bicycle parts on a daily basis automatically think about sustainable mobility’: this approach is to be consolidated through information, communication, service offerings and campaigns for road users.
The Glückstour ride – fundraising on two wheels
Over 1,000 km in just seven days, rain or shine, year after year. The chimney sweeps taking part in the Glückstour push themselves to the limit, all for one goal: raising as much money as possible for children with cancer. We’ve been proud to support this inspiring grassroots initiative since 2013.
Professional development at the HEBIE GROUP
Professional development and ongoing training are really important to us. This is why we support both external specialist courses and in-house learning formats to make sure knowledge is shared and our people are ready for the working world of tomorrow. We even set aside a dedicated training budget every year to keep learning firmly embedded in our company culture. Regular feedback meetings help us agree on individual goals and training measures – and ensure both employees and managers are on board.
Westfalenfleiß
Through our collaboration with Westfalenfleiß in Münster, we offer people with disabilities and mental health conditions work experience placements and external work placements, enabling them to gain an insight into various areas of work within the open labour market and to gain practical experience in a workplace environment.
CSR WORKBOOK
Every employee will receive a personal CSR workbook with space for their own notes. It’s been designed to provide a hands-on way to dive deeper into sustainability, with practical tips and tricks for everyday life and the workplace. We explain the significance of CSR activities within the HEBIE GROUP and the objectives they are designed to achieve. Everyone is encouraged and expected to actively contribute ideas within the HEBIE GROUP.
Martinschule school project
We’ve enjoyed a close relationship with the Martinschule in Bielefeld-Gadderbaum since 2010. Every year, we invite the pupils to visit our site for a behind-the-scenes tour followed by a quiz, giving them a fun introduction to cycling, sharing the story of Bielefeld as a “cycling city”, and sparking their curiosity in technical careers
Embracing diversity
We’re proud to count employees from 12 different nationalities across the HEBIE GROUP. We place great value on respectful, harmonious working relationships, where everyone is accepted for who they are. The range of backgrounds and perspectives in our team gives us all the chance to learn from one another and broaden our horizons. We couldn’t be prouder of the people who make up the HEBIE GROUP.
Special Olympics NRW
In 2024, we supported the state-level Special Olympics NRW in Münster – specifically in the cycling events. The goal of Special Olympics NRW is to give people with intellectual disabilities greater visibility, recognition and inclusion in society through sport.
Benefits
Here at the HEBIE GROUP, our employees enjoy a wide range of attractive perks, family-friendly schemes and additional benefits, not to mention plenty of individual flexibility to help strike a work-life balance that feels right.
We regularly review how these benefits are received and used so we can identify where changes or improvements might be needed. Regular employee surveys help us stay tuned in to what matters most – both now and in the future – and guide how we shape our package going forward..
Our current benefits include a variety of flexible working options to support work-life balance, including mobile working arrangements, additional special leave, extra days off beyond the statutory allowance, flexible models and flexitime where possible. We also partner with Familiengenossenschaft, the Family Alliance, to offer support with more complex personal matters outside of work.
Benefits
Employees of the HEBIE GROUP have access to a range of voluntary additional benefits and working arrangements. The uptake of these benefits is regularly assessed through staff surveys. The results are taken into account when further developing the range of benefits on offer. Current benefits include, amongst others, remote working, additional special leave for specific occasions, extra leave on top of statutory leave, flexible working arrangements and flexitime, where possible.
We also have a partnership with the Familiengenossenschaft to support our staff with complex issues, even in their free time. As the health of our staff is very important to us, we regularly organise health days, offer physiotherapy sessions and provide a ‘Jobrad’ scheme. In addition, we organise group activities for our staff.
